Phillip D. Elder is an Associate with the Law Offices of Tanya D. Jeffords & Associates, PC in Augusta, Georgia. His practice areas are personal injury law, criminal law, and family law. He has worked extensively in the area of civil litigation, particularly personal injury, and has experience in drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, demand letters, and negotiating for his clients. Mr. Elder is originally from Houston, Texas and was a music and drama teacher in DeKalb County School District in Decatur, Georgia for 13 years. He is a devout Christian and teaches piano and sings at church on the weekends and on special occasions. His favorite scripture is “[b]ut seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” Mathew 6:33 His favorite quote is “[t]he ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy” by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He is married to Cheryl Elder, Principal at Copeland Elementary, they have three children, and he and his wife live in Augusta, Georgia in Richmond County.
Mr. Elder earned his Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida in 2012, his MBA in Finance from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida in 2007, and his BS in Music Education from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1999. He was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in May of 2017 and is a member of the Augusta Bar Association and the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. He is also a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, Inc. and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
